Edmonton-based husband-wife duo Kris Owczarek & Carla Roppo-Owczarek began making  hand-dipped biscotti, Gemelli fruit and nut bars, and Artisan Panettone & Pastries under the DeFazio Gourmet brand since 2012. Upon re-branding to CANOVA Pasticceria in 2016, the Owczareks expanded their product line to include pre-sliced loaves, muffins,  scones,  puffed wheat squares crispy rice squares, and confectionary treats.

Nestled in a nondescript warehouse space in Edmonton’s Northside, this “hidden gem” provides wholesale baked goods to the hospitality industry, healthcare industry, grocery stores, cafés, cafeterias,  and boutiques to clients across Canada. In addition to owning and operating a small business, the couple are kept busy by their three teenage sons.
